ROASTED APPLES AND PEARS IN WINE
Here is a delicious recipe for the Holidays that is not too sweet and decadent, but delicious, super easy to make and something new to serve!
You’ll need:
½ cup sugar
1 large piece of orange peel
10-12 whole cloves
1-2 sticks cinnamon
6-8 sprigs fresh rosemary
2 cups red wine (I like to use Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot)
½ cup water or orange juice
2 tsp vanilla extract
2-4 medium sized bosc pears
2-4 medium sized apples
Cut the fruit in half and take out the pits/core. Keep in halves. Place all ingredients in a large saucepan or pot so that the fruit snuggly fits in.
Put the pot in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes- 1 hour.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream with the wine sauce on top!
